Felt Clip-on Harry Potter Ties - birthday boy wearing a tie and his Harry Potter glassesI made these clip-on felt ties for my son's Harry Potter themed birthday. Each gift bag also included a pair of Harry Potter glasses. The kids absolutely loved them!

Harry Potter glasses

Steps:

  1. Create a tie template using cardstock. Stick the template to the red felt using rolled pieces of tape. Cut out the desired number of ties.
    2. Felt Clip-on Harry Potter Ties - cardstock templates stuck to red felt
     
    Felt Clip-on Harry Potter Ties - cut out red tie bases
     
  2. Using a rotary cutter to cut out thin strips of yellow felt. Then cut out strips that are twice of wide.
    3. Felt Clip-on Harry Potter Ties - use rotary cutter to cut thin strips of felt and then cut strips twice as wide
     
  3. Using a glue gun, adhere the strips of yellow felt to each tie (as shown below). Once all of the strips are adhered, trim off the overhanging parts of each strip.
    4. Felt Clip-on Harry Potter Ties - hot glue on the back of a wide yellow felt strip
     
    Felt Clip-on Harry Potter Ties - alternating strips of yellow felt glued to tie cutouts

  4. Next glue a snap barrette onto the back of each tie, near the top edge.
