How to Wash a Cashmere Sweater

Total Time: 10 minutes, plus drying time

Source: Internet and TV show segment

Supplies:

• baby shampoo
• sweater
• air drying rack

Steps:

1. Soak sweater in lukewarm water with a few drops of baby shampoo.

 
2. Swish the sweater around-do not rub!
3. Rinse the sweater until the water runs clear.
4. Pat out as much water as possible. Do not wring the sweater.

 
5. Place the sweater on a big bath towel.

 
6. Roll the towel up.

7. Pat out as much water as possible.

 
8. Place the sweater on a flat surface where air can get all around it. Gently shape it. I put it on the top of my air-drying rack.

 
9. Enjoy your clean, soft sweater!

This reminded me of a funny story. Back in 1968 I moved from Colorado to Washington State. As I was driving, I kept seeing billboards advertising Cashmere, Wash.

I thought it was a soap to wash your cashmere sweater in. I didn't realize that there is a town in Washington named Cashmere!! I still laugh about it!
