Silver Post Medal for All Time! 408 Posts Send some fall greetings to a family member that lives far away. Using an owl as the star of the card, and working in bright colors, this card is sure to be noticed by its recipient.
Total Time: 20 minutes
Yield: one greeting card
Supplies:
- 1 piece 5.4 x 8.2" orange cardstock
- 1 piece 5.1 x 3.6" orange sugar paper
- 1 piece A5 sized yellow cardstock
- 1 1.7" high black vinyl transfer sticker of an owl
- 1 2.4" long dry twig
- pair of 8mm wiggle eyes
- 0.5" wide fall-colored grosgrain ribbon
- brown suede cord to make a bow
- three 3D self-adhesive foam squares
- Artline golden calligraphy pen
- Artline 210 black fineliner pen
- Upikit maple leaf punch
- pencil
- ruler
- pair of standard scissors
- quick-drying craft glue (such as Bostik Clear)
Steps:
- Score the orange cardstock to create a card sized 5.4" x 4.1".
- Centre and place the owl sticker on the orange sugar paper and gently rub over the sticker with the ruler.
- Peel away the transfer tape so that the sticker will remain on the sugar paper.
- Glue the twig below the owl sticker, so that it will look as if the owl is sitting on a branch.
- With the fold at the left, centre and glue the sugar paper to the front of the card.
- Glue a strip of ribbon to the top and bottom of the sugar paper and cut off any protruding edges.
- Punch five leaves from the yellow cardstock and use the black pen to add veins to the leaves.
- Glue the leaves to the twig. For some leaves, glue them down completely, and for others, use a combination of glue on the one side of the leaf and a small piece of 3D foam on the other side to add some dimension.
- Use the golden pen to add some golden highlights to the twig.
- Add the wiggle eyes and the bow made from the suede cord.
