How and when did you get your pet?
I had adopted him on May 23rd 2015 from the Happy Endings no kill shelter.
What does your pet like to do for fun?
Hunter loves to watch TV. He watches the TV whenever it's on; he likes to watch videos for cats. He's an indoor cat. He has one favorite toy that he loves to play with. It is the one with the balls inside a ring and it makes a noise likes the birdies sing.
Do you have anything else to share about your pet?
Hunter was in a cage for two years at the shelter. And I was told he would not make a good pet. He was very aloof, not wanting too much to do with humans. He is very food motivated, but I couldn't pet him or pick him up. He would hiss a lot and I was afraid of him at first. He scratched my legs, he would punch me in the head while I was sleeping sometimes. He was down right nasty. The last time he scratched me I think I made him feel ashamed of doing that to me. I said, "Look what you did to me you hurt me for no reason you're mean". Little by little he got nicer and nicer. Until one day after about 8 months he came to me and let me pet him. And now he sits next to me all the time. He hasn't gotten on my lap or let me pet him anywhere else, but his top side. But the steady improvements were amazing. I'm so glad I stuck with it and gave him a chance. He now purrs and meows and even tries to talk to me. I feel good knowing that I gave him a more full and meaningful life.

What a lovely story.
I am glad you were patient and now you are blessed with a
loving "side-kick".
I do not think we all understand why some pets (or people)
Yes sometimes the easy way isn't always the right way. I could have just got a sweet little kitten, but all the sweet little kittens eventually may have gotten loving homes. I knew my Hunter didn't have a chance. I was his only chance so I made the right choice instead of the easy one. And Hunter has rewarded me with all his progress and love he has returned.
He's so beautiful. My cat hated to be pet or held and refused to sit in my lap when I got her. She was so afraid of ME, I needed to connect with her somehow. I had found a very VERY soft bristled baby brush and decided to see how she would react to being brushed. Well, that was the most amazing thing. She loved it!! And began loving me too. I was no longer just "The Giver of Food"! Brushing her made a bond between us like mother and kitten. Now she jumps in my lap and demands to be brushed. Or if I say "would you like a good brushing?" she comes straight away. Even if I DONT have the brush in my hand, but just make the motion of it when she's looking at me - here she comes! If you try this make sure you don't brush him too fast. It can overload their senses, too much stimuli. Which may cause him to bite or scratch you. Cats love to be groomed it's an essential part of their daily life.
Yes it was hard to gain Hunters trust, but once you get it it's so rewarding to gain there trust and love. I also started to comb Hunters back as he lets me pet him. I had to be careful at first because he was so scared of everything. I am going to get a cat brush now I think he might be ready for that. And he does give me little love bites usually when I'm about to feed him. Hunters a big eater and very food motivated. But now he demands my attention he always sits right next to me like a dog does. I'm glad for you that your kitty came around so well.
