Ice Water To Go

A recycled ICEE package frozen with water inside.Everywhere I look, I see people sipping water from a plastic bottle. I don't think they're that thirsty or hot. I think they're just trying to stay hydrated. I suppose that's a good thing.

And of course there's another reason they do this...because they see everybody else doing it. The need to be trending, I do believe, is stronger in this generation than in any before. Everybody is a copycat, from eye rolling to talking through their nose. (What did you say, Kamala?)

Anyway, with all the record breaking heat waves we've been having, wouldn't it be nice if you could take ice water along instead of tap or fridge temperature? Well, you can.

I bought a cherry ICEE Slush one time. It was pretty good but it was almost difficult to drink because the flavor was so intense. I never will forget that.

Recently, I planned make to a dessert and needed a cherry flavoring for frosting. I checked around and the cheapest I found was several dollars at Amazon. Too much for a one time use. Then I remembered the Cherry ICEE and figured that would work as a flavoring. I bought a couple and use part of one to flavor the frosting. It was good. The particular cherry flavor tasted like cherry Life Savers. I'm not too keen on artificial flavors but I really like the one used in cherry Life Savers.

This ICEE is packaged in a very strong material. It must withstand being frozen solid without breaking. It does just that. And after using the contents, it can be flattened with no problem.

After emptying the container, I wondered how I could recycle such a strong little pouch. Then it dawned on me to use it for ice water instead of water, on the go.

I thoroughly rinsed the pouch and filled it with purified distilled water and put it in the freezer. It froze solid, hard as a brick and remained intact. I thought "I want to share this'.

And too, there might be other good uses for this frozen pouch. It could be wrapped in a small cloth and used as an ice pack for minor burns or a meegraine headache as our cousins across the pond say. I just thought of another....transporting baby formula. It should be good for that and would easily fit into that thingy formula is carried around in.

I'm sure there are other uses, too.
