Can anyone identify these please?
1. Black beetle found by bathroom sink.
2. Brown beetle found in lounge (I have been told it could be a furniture beetle.)

The beetle that is in your sink looks like a Foreign grain beetle. They are found in areas around August to September and love to live in moist areas with water present. This is the same image as the beetle on your sofa. Here is an article about foreign grain beetles and take a look at the image. Flour or grain beetle probably. They can often hitchhike home from the grocery store in dry goods or they can find their way in from outside.
Check your pantry items first--and toss anything that seems infested and do a good cleaning.
If the pantry is clean, then check around the perimeter of your home and clean up old leaves and any other debris.
Usually this stops the issue pretty quickly.

This looks like Dynastine- better known as the Rhinoceros Beetle. This beetle is one of 1500 species and 225 genera of Rhinoceros beetles are known. More about this insect - en.wikipedia.org/
