Can anyone identify these tiny bugs for me? They have recently appeared on a couple of my PVC windowsills; the apartment has been rented out for the last couple of years; and I never saw these previously. There have never been carpets in the apartment (laminate floors) and there is no furniture in the place now (getting ready for sale). There are however silk curtains on the windows in question. I'd obviously like to be rid of them before selling the apartment Any ideas what they are and how best to eradicate them?

Carpet Beetles.
They love silk!
I think you'll need to remove the curtains and have them cleaned and not put up until you know the beetles are gone.
The silk is probably the reason they on your windowsill.
Vacuuming is a good beginning and Boric Acid sprinkled around the baseboards will help - leave it as long as possible and then vacuum.
Throw the dirty bag away outside as they'll eat through the bag.
This looks like Carpet Beetles . Here is info on this insect - en.wikipedia.org/
Thanks, that's very helpful. Strange that they occur in empty property, with no carpets, mattresses, or clothing in the house, and no obvious bird nesting in the area. Have to look on lined silk curtains as the only area encouraging them.
