My Pit Bull has pimple like bumps all over her and she has been itchy for over 6 months. When I took her to the vet she had been losing hair behind her ears and they thought it was food allergies. Now she has tiny spots of hair missing from her back and these bumps or sores. What could this be?

This is not a good look, to be for certain on this, contact a Vet for the right answers. Guessing wouldn't be good!
I honestly think she has mange but when I took her in before it was this bad they said allergies to food changed her diet not helping. And she has several spots on her back and legs like the attached pictures
Poor pup! Prayers for healing!
I would get a second opinion. It could be mange, which usually needs an antibiotic and topical.
It could also be a food allergy as the first vet said, but that one is hard. Our boy had something similar when we first got him (which luckily he outgrew).
We tried a gluten free diet and that helped, but we think it was a combination of an allergy to chicken and gluten) because when we switched him to a gluten free/chicken free diet it really helped.
It was a huge challenge finding food without both (chicken fat is one of the most common ingredients in many dog foods). I think it was a Blue or maybe Hill Science brand we finally used, but it's been years and I am not positive and for all I know that product doesn't exist the way these companies change things up.
You could talk to the vet about a homemade food diet--which some people can do successfully with vet guidance. This way you control everything that goes in.
We eventually weaned him off the special diet and he is much better now. Just an occasional flare, which we think now is allergies to things outside--like cut grass.
My suggestion would be to find a another vet and preferably one that is willing to talk holistic treatments with a focus on diet and allergy. If you have a vet hospital in your town where there are specialists and you can afford it, seek out a doggy dermatologist. We have such a place in my town and they are amazing!
This looks very bad and also painful for the dog. I have seen different allergies to fleas and bugs before along with food. You may need to visit a specialist and have a blood test done on the dog in order to determine the real cause of this. I would try to find a specialist in your area and make an appointment to go and see him. The longer you leave this the worse it will get. My dog gets red skin when it gets close to giving him his flea pills and I normally put some lemon juice on them and it clears them up.
She has an appointment tomorrow at her vet. I have taken her to a dermatologist at a different place as well and she never had a answers other than food allergies and I spent an ghastly amount of money on the food she wanted and it didnt help her at all. This is the worst I've seen her so far and she was also recently treated for yeast infection in her ears. I just feel so frustrated because she is a beautiful loving girl and I have spent tons on her and still dont have any answers that are helping her.
