Identifying Clematis?

Identifying ClematisI moved into a home about 3 1/2 years ago. It has a tall (6+) foot vine which I'm told by neighbours is a clematis. It has not flowered or even put on many leaves since we have lived here so I'm not sure how to identify it so I can prune and care for it properly. The only thing I can say is that it has small dark green almost oval shaped leaves. I did try and trim off a lot of the dead wood last year and put a couple of hostas around the root to help "cool the feet". I put some shake fertilizer on it before the snow and a bit more a few days ago. It is just starting out but is putting on more leaves this year and appears to have leaves and or buds on old and new growth.

It looks like it could be either Asiatic Jasmine or Wintercreeper. Both of these are vines that I use as groundcover around my heavily treed areas. Check out groundcover.com for more info on these.
