I found this strange hexagon shaped egg cluster, on the back of one of the leaves on my corn plant. It's about the size of a Japanese beetle. I thought it was the shadow of one, under the leaf, when I first saw it. The eggs almost look like gray tubes with a thick white coating or "glue". It looks pretty solid too. Any clue what they are? This is my first year adding corn in the garden and would love to get ahead of the pests if this cluster belongs to one. Can anyone please help id? Located in Virginia.

I see this a lot on tomatoe plants where I live and from time to time on corn also. They are a small white fly egg that the whiteflies seem to lay on the back of plants. In some places people call these moth eggs or call the whiteflies moths because they almost look like moths. I use a mixture of dish soap and water to spray the plants to kill the eggs and get rid of the whites flies here.
These are Moth eggs - there are many species of Moths. There eggs vary from white, yellow , and other various colors. Here is some info on them - en.wikipedia.org/
