I have these sandy colored, slightly black striped insects with a red stinger and transparent wings with black borders, in my kitchen. They seem to like staying in the light in the kitchen ceiling and their number seems to be increasing. My mom is worried it's termites. So can anyone help me identify what these insects are, and maybe a way to get rid of them?

I dont think they are termites. Termites dont bite. It could be a type of bee or wasp.
It's a fruit fly
The coloring is hard to see. If they are yellow and black they could be regular or mini yellow jackets:
If you have a nest, it is best to get rid of it at night, when they are inside the hive. The hives look like paper or bark almost.
I really don't suggest taking care of these on your own unless you are covered head to toe, wearing some type of full body protection. If that is what you have they are VERY mean and do sting.
