I have a variety of health conditions; lucky me. They include: diabetes, kidney issues, and sarcoidosis among others. Diet ideas can be tricky. I'm prone to high calcium levels, and currently dealing with high potassium. That puts a restriction on a lot of the fruits and vegetables I can eat, which I know are better for me. But so many, especially the ones I really like, I need to limit due to the potassium. Dried and canned beans are also something that I really like, and are healthy, but again, a higher level of potassium. Dark leafy greens, too. Potatoes, sweet potatoes, melons, tomatoes, avocado, many common things I have to watch out for.
I'm trying to eat more apples and berries in general. Blackberries and raspberries aren't favorites, but I'm trying to work them in. Canned peaches and pears are OK, potassium wise, but not fresh ones. Green beans, cabbage, corn, celery are all OK with regards to potassium, and I'm trying to get to like peppers again, but it's slow going.
I'm just looking for a few ideas for lower potassium food ideas that work with issues like diabetes. I haven't found a resource yet that combines several different guidelines into one. Luckily I don't suffer from food allergies.
