It looks like Staghorn Sumac (not poisonous) (scroll down to see the difference in the two)--I believe the sawtooth leaves match the leaves on yours.

Some people plant these on purpose...which I personally cannot image as we have them popping up everywhere like weeds.

We just had one get so tall it fell over in a recent storm and was inches away from taking our neighbor's gutter down. We didn't take it down because it had a lovely robin nest and family in it right outside our kitchen window...thank G-d the babies had left the nest before the storm (they had been gone about a week).

These bushes/trees are insidious (pop up everywhere and spread VERY fast), they have very shallow roots, and blow over easily in storms if they get too tall.

The only good thing is the trunks and branches are soft so when you get rid of them, you can do much of the work by hand if it hasn't gotten too thick.

Hope this helps! Sorry...I do hate these things....they are the bane of my yard's existence :(

These are weeds but looking at your pictures, I do not believe it is in the Sumac family as the leaves on your weed are off-set and fairly jagged where as the Sumac has less jagged leaves and the leaves are not off-set.

That said, I do not know the name of this weed but I do see it around so it must be fairly common.
You can send these photos to your local extension agency and they should be able to tell you as they will be very familiar with weeds/plants that grow in your area.

It is a weed, but what a pretty weed. If you have a bare space in your garden it will quickly cover the bare spot as it multiplies it self !!
