Identifying House Plants?

I have some house plants and I do not know what they are called, but they are pretty common ones that everyone else on earth knows. I am having problems with the leaves turning brown and dying. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I know I have the right light and everything because I read the little card. How can I identify them so that I can find out what the problem is? Thanks.

Ok, got a plant question! My mom has grown this plan for about 10 years and she has no idea what it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If the leaves are turning brown at the ends, they are probably transpiring, too much water.
You said you have the little card which tells how much light the plant needs, the same card should Tell you the name of the plant?
