I have found this thing crawling over my windowsill, up the curtains/mesh, on my couch, a couple of times in the kitchen and twice I've found one crawling over my bed. I know it looks similar in shape to a carpet bug, but its pattern doesn't match up. It's about 5mm in length, so really tiny.
Please help!

These look like carpet beetles. They eat fabrics among other things.
Usually you can just vaccuum them up and they go away (meaning you just had a hungry few that came in for a meal).
If you continue to see them, you may need to clean debris from around your house (they also like leaf debris and rotting plants). Seal cracks in bricks, window frames, and doors to prevent them from coming in.
If you really see a lot of them, you may need a professional to come in and take care of it. Most of the time, a vacuum (and good cleaning--preferably a steam clean) of the area will get rid of the problem.

this is a carpet beetle. Vacuum thoroughly and throw the bag outside. Use an insecticide. If you need to, call an exterminator.
You would be correct! This beetle is a nuisance to your home. They eat through all types of fabric.Get rid of them with insecticide!
There are so many different types of beetles that live in your home. This one happens to live in your carpet. You can get rid of them by putting out some sticky flypaper or even spray for them.
