The bug I am concerned about is at the bottom of the photo. I leave a sticky trap in our den where the dog sleeps to keep an eye on fleas. I left my house empty for over a week and moved the trap over near my sofa and found more bugs! I found a few of those skinny black ones with that long stinger or feeler stuck in my dog's paw and it was very hard to pull it out with tweezers.
I need to return home to start cleaning and have someone help move my sectional so I can clean under and behind it!

It could be a horn tail wood wasp

This is a picture of the critter that Judy is talking about, but I was under the impression that they don't sting...that the stingy looking thing is what they use to lay their eggs. It does look like that critter, so I am a bit confused, unless the pup stepped on it and it got into the paw pad.
I would take the bug to your local hardware store or if you have a home extension office nearby, I would take them there and ask for their help. Here is a home extension finder:

PS. I sure hope the pupster is OK!! Keep an eye on the bite location to make sure it doesn't swell or get infected! Get him to the vet ASAP if there is any swelling at the site or if he starts having issues breathing.
My Clarence's little girl friend pup got stung by a bee over the summer and had a terrible reaction and had to get emergency vet care, Safety first!!
