Identifying Porcelain Doll from Germany?

Identifying Porcelain Doll from Germany - very old German porcelain dollI have my great grandmother's doll she brought over when they came to America. It's literally been untouched for over 50 years. It has real human hair and no broken pieces. On the badge on her back up around shoulders it reads

(A I M). However I can't read the top word, but it does start with the letter T. She is in a long pink dress with white lace. She is about 20 inches long. Any one know of such a doll? The eyes are inside her head.

What a lovely keepsake.
It will be difficult to identify your doll unless someone has done research on this type of doll for many years.
I would suggest you post your question and pictures on a doll forum site as this is where the doll collectors "hang out".

Post close up pictures too and also give measurements.

You should check out the links to the doll forum ans ask your question as you will probably never find a doll like this.
If ID and information is what you are looking for these doll collectors can supply everything about this doll. They will also give you sites to check out to find dolls made by the same company.

Most members on this site just do not have the doll knowledge to be able to give you much more.
Please upload your pictures to one or both of the forum sites.

This doll can be worth several hundred dollars. Upload the pictures to the forum at www.dollreference.com and someone will probably be able to identify it.

I believe you may have a Armand Marseille doll or reproduction thereof. Can be sure from photos.

If she is original, she is possibly early 1900s. If a repro, I can't pinpoint the year without much more info. Her name I am not clear on. I only started studying German dolls last year and there is so much to learn as the Germans made a number of dolls.

I suggest finding a good antique dealer and getting her reviewed for insurance value, which will be more than retail, but will give you an idea of today's market value.

These dolls are still popular as many did not survive being well loved.
Depending on her condition (deemed by expert not just from lay person review) and demand, dolls of this brand fetch between $40 and up into the thousands of dollars.

The expert can tell you where your lovely gal will be in that huge price span.

Sometimes the clothes are worth more than the doll if they are original. Although these clothes look old, they appear too new to be original so she may be a later model or repro piece. I say that because it looks like a more modern machine lace.

Post back what you learn!! So cool! Thanks for sharing!!
