I have recently acquired a number of items and am trying to find out more about some of them. These are (I think) a set of porcelain 'salts' with no makers marks, but each piece is stamped 'FOREIGN' in orange. The cups are very thin and delicate porcelain with a pearlescent finish to the glaze. The pattern around the rims is of a simple white leaf/branch or feather. They measure 48mm diameter (top) and 24mm at the base and 48mm tall.

it looks like you have a Sake set but where it is from may be difficult to determine. it seems you are missing the Sake bottle that would normally set in the center.
Many people tend to associate Sake with Japan but this is a drink that was (still is) shared all over the western world.
Porcelain/pottery pieces were stamped with Foreign for several years and usually had a paper 'sticky' attached with the country name but even that was not required if the pieces were not wrapped individually but just packed 'raw' and shipping in boxes.
Here are comments that one appraiser stated but is generally shared by most but then there is really very little knowledge about this as these were produced by the thousands (some say millions) and most were shipped to the USA.
"FOREIGN is the name on continental porcelain (made in Czech or Switzerland and other surrounding countries. The porcelain age would be more than 50 years old."
The sets are made in many different sizes, shapes and styles. Most sets consisted of cups and bottle but did not usually include a tray.
Usually the cups were small but could be up to 3" in diameter and 2+" tall.
Here is a good example:

This link shows that sets are still being made and sold very cheaply when bought in large quantities.

Replacements has a lot of cups but not very many sets.

Replacements is not open right now but if you wish to know more about your set you can contact them later as they may have more information about the particular material your set is made of.
eBay and Etsy have sets listed for sale and you may find something similar to yours.

Here is some good info about just the word foreign being on the piece.

I lean to it being 1950s with the lost paper tag...but that is just a gut feeling.
My feeling is these are egg cups and in the center would be the salt shaker or pepper shaker.
I have seen seen similar over the years and that was what they were. People use them for all different things today.
I am hoping cybergrannie sees this and weighs in. She has much more knowledge about the unusual pieces of earthenware than I do!!
Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to learning more!
