I have lived in this house for 15 years and this is the first time I've had this problem. I have almost a hundred small black dead bugs in my downstairs bathroom. They are on the sink's ledge, on the floor, and on the toilet seat. At first I thought it was mouse droppings, but looking closer I noticed they're bugs. I don't have any bugs in the shower or it's drain. What are they and how do I stop this from happening?

They could be sewer flies/gnats.
I would vacuum them all up, wash down the floor and all the places you saw them, then pour several rounds of boiling water (carefully) down the drain.
Usually this treatment gets rid of the problem quickly.
After the last boiling water treatment (I usually do 3) pour a 1/2 cup of baking soda and a cup of vinegar down the drain. It will foam up. Leave it sit for an hour and flush with one last pot of boiling water.
Hope this works for you!
