Identifying Small Black Jumping Bugs on Dog?

Identifying Small Black Jumping Bugs on Dog - black bugWhat is it? I found it on my dog's face. Where's it coming from? How do I get rid of it? I only find 1 or 2 usually after he'd been outside. They jump and are the size of a grain of pepper.

See the link above. This looks like a flea.

If you just see one, I would not panic. Give your dog a good bath and keep monitoring. If you see more, call your vet ASAP to get the best solution for your pup breed and weight.

Talk to the vet about the safest products and how to prevent them from being on the pup, in the house, and around the yard.

Post back with updates.

Its a flea. You can kill them with flea spray or powder, hot water, if you pick it off the dog, and you can even get treatments for your yard.

Looks like a standard flea to me. They are a pain and not so easy to get rid of. You can spray your yard for fleas and also make sure your dog is protected.

This should cut down on the population and control them from laying eggs and multiplying.

This is a flea. They can be managed especially if you start before they are too bad. Talk to your Vet. They have the best stuff.

I'm pretty certain this is actually a flea, like others have said. Diatomaceous earth around the house and in external areas can help take care of the problem.
