Identifying This Stuffed Animal?

A small stuffed dog.My stuffed dog has been with me for over 40 years. I received him for Easter in 1975 or 76. I have tried doing reverse image searches and I still can't find out who made him. There are similar stuffed animals made by Dakin, but he has several features that make him dissimilar.

His legs are a continual cut from the bottom and top pieces of fabric. The top of his ears run almost parallel to the floor. He had an oval of felt like fabric behind his black plastic eye. He had a U shaped red fabric tongue. He has a short tapered tail. His color appears different than any Dakin stuffed animal I can find. He has a seam running down the top and bottom center of his body. Belly surgery was performed in home, and fortunately he survived. :) Any insight into this beloved family member would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I believe it may be a Princess Brand Stuffed Animal. I saw one similar on E-Bay and the seaming was almost the same.

Princess is a brand that went under a few years ago, but I can't seem to gather any information on it.

Thank you for your interest in helping. I do see a 1970 pup for sale on Ebay from Princess Soft Toys with similar stitching but a different face shape. Maybe they made this one, too. There are more recent dogs for sale by the company, but they do not look similar, except the legs also appear to be a continuation of the top and bottom fabric pieces. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a blog showing other stuffed dogs by them. I will keep looking. If anyone knows of such a site, please let me know.

This could have been made by someone from a kit. I have never seen one like it before.

Thank you for your comment. My mom bought it at a store outside Mequon, Wisconsin. She's certain that it wouldn't have been a craft store, but I guess any store could have purchased crafted items. There are many talented crafters there.

That hadn't occurred to me. There was a printed (like you'd expect from a toy company) tag attached with a name I didn't use. It fell off or was cut off at some point early on, but I see no trace of it.
