Identifying a Bug?

A small brown bug on a plastic surface.Does anyone know what type of bug this is? Thin hard shelled bug. Jumps and has two dark brown spots on its back. Plays dead sometimes. I live in Ontario, Canada, if that helps.

Your picture is too small to see any parts of the bug and you do not say where you are finding these bugs so it would be difficult to give a very good answer.

If it jumps, it could be a click beetle - look these up for yourself.
You can always send good pictures to an extension office and ask your question for correct answers.
Since you are in Canada, I'm not sure Canada still has these government offices but you can ask your question on a US site but explain that you are in Canada.

I agree with cybergrannie and gggd. According to the description, this bug is very similar to the Click beetle, also known as skipjack, snapping beetle, or spring beetle.

It plays dead.
Some species have dark, round marks on their backs.
But I can't understand why you didn't notice their distinctive clicking noise. Here you can hear and compare this clicking noise www.orkin.com/.../click-beetle-sounds
Click beetles are found all over the world, with the exception of Antarctica. These beetles are harmless to humans and are generally not indoor pests, but lights near doors may draw them inside.

I dont think it matters what it is. Just use an all-purpose insecticide.

When I enlarge your photo, it's too blurry to see any details, but your description makes me think...Click Beetle. Here is a link to identification:
