Identifying a Bump on a Dog?

Identifying a Bump on a Dog - bump on a dog with hair growing out of itMy dog has a red bump and I am concerned. There is hair growing out of it and it's probably half the size of a penny. Can you please tell me what it is he has on the side of him?

Ouchies! This looks very sore. I wonder if he has either an allergic reaction to a bite (flea/tick/spider) or a hot spot from something he ate or touched.

When in doubt, check it out. Please have the vet look at this as soon as possible. It looks infected, so the sooner the better.

They can give you the best treatment options. Some vets (I am fortunate mine does) offer some tele-medicine services where we can email a photo and they will look at it and say bring him in or looks like X come get Y (prescription).

They only do this for established patients and most time the only charge is the meds. They charged a visit fee once, maybe twice, when we had to go back and forth several times via email AND phone.

Either way, best to be safe and get this taken care of before the pup gets worse.

Post back with an update! Prayers for healing.

I havent seen anything quite like that. It is hard to say if it is just a small infection or cancer. Only a Vet can really tell you. Dont wait. A little time can make a big difference if it is malignant.

This could be a nromal growth that some dogs get and nothing to really worry about. I would take the dog to the vet to have them check it out.

The vet might want to remove the growth for the safety of the dog.

This raises concern for a Vet to look at, to be really sure that he is ok.
