Can anyone help me identify this cat? It has odd markings that remind me of an owl, weird I know. There is nothing identifiable as to who made it. It's about 4" high.

so is this actually pottery? That's what it looks like
there is a type of Chilean pottery known as 'Pomaire' which is black earthenware with white marks. It is famous.
I didnt' see any cats but as you can see it does look a lot like this www.pinterest.es/
It does look like that. I'm going to put it on social media. I appreciate your help.
Marg.
The etching marks on the cat make me think it might be a piece of Pueblo pottery.
Please post a picture of the bottom.
How heavy is this figurine?
Does it appear to be made from one piece of material?
I think there should be some sort of marks on the bottom of this piece. It could have been made in Mexico or some other Latin country by the look of the item.
What material is he? Are the colors painted or etched? Is his bottom solid or hollow (hole in the bottom)?
He looks like he is in homage to a 1960s Italian Flavia piece, but I have never seen one in these colors. They were usually bright colors, but he has the same shape and eyes.
The lines and ears and regal features give him an Italian look vs. Mexican or other folk art, which were often somewhat exagerated or comical in nature.
This cat looks quite regal. What are the eyes made of? Glass or plastic? They are quite unusual.
If he is a 1950s or 1960s Italian piece, he could be quite valuable.
I am looking forward to learning more so maybe we can figure out who he is. Where are you located?
There are no markings on the bottom. I believe the finish is etched, it's not smooth. Looks like it was made in one piece and I can't tell how much it weighs.
Thanks for the extra pictures.
I just meant was the piece light or 'heavy'.
Sorry. It's got a little heft but it's not heavy. I think the eyes are glass.
Place this piece on social media sites , there are sure to be someone who has more knowledge of this piece .It is lovely, and someone online knows the answer and the offer of a challenge!
