I'm hoping someone can help me identify this doll. Basically, I have no knowledge of dolls at all. It was passed on to me by a family member several years ago. I'm assuming the hard head and limbs are made of some kind of ceramic or porcelain. The doll is 21" in length. It has substantial weight, and feels like a real baby when holding it.
The only identifying marks are at the base of the neck it says, Ann 84, and a tag on the wig says Bell Ceramics. I don't know if the wig came with the doll or not. When you take off the wig, there are a few shiny patches making me wonder if the wig was adhered to the head at some point. The details on the hands, feet, and legs are quite lifelike. If anyone has any information to share about the doll, I would be most grateful.
Thank you!

I believe you have a doll that came from this company:
bellcollection.com/
They make (and have made for may years) kit dolls....where the doll maker buys the head and assembles the doll. They sell all of the pieces, so to speak--from wigs, paint, etc.
Some of these dolls are quite valuable and some not. You would have to do a deep search of eBay and Etsy to find an exact SOLD match to yours (I was not able to find one at the moment).
Once you find an exact sold match, you will know today's value.
You could always ask the company if they would value it and maybe buy it back if they have a museum or such. It sounds weird, but I have recently sold "art" items back to the original maker and fetched nice money for them.
In this case, by the maker, I mean the maker of the ceramic head, NOT who put it together. It could have been anyone who put it together--perhaps your family member??
If you don't get a good response from the company, best to take it to a reputable doll shop or vintage store and have them value it based on where you live.
This is a neat item!! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for your insight and tips. I will do some more research to see what I can find. I appreciate the link to the company site, too!
