I've had this well-loved doll for as long as I can remember and I've never known where it came from. I'm not really interested in selling it, but I would like to repair it and it would help to know if by trying to repair it I'd actually be damaging the value further. There are no tags or markings anywhere on the body, so any help at all in identifying her maker would be appreciated.

It looks like an old doll. You might have to undress the doll to find identifying marks. You can also Google doll hospital to find one and contact them.
Repairing is always iffy.
If she were mine (she is lovely by the way), I would talk to a couple of experts to find out if the repairs can harm her (meaning reduce value) or if it would increase her value. She is complex because of the winder!
This site has a doll doctor locator: dolldoctorsassociation.com/
Maybe there is one near you. Like a sick human, be sure to get a second option!
Personally, if I have a sentimental attachment to something, i leave the repairs to the pros as I am not that handy....but that is just me.
Here are some sample sites if you decide to go the DIY route, there are lots of good websites.

Thank you so much! This has been very helpful!
If the damage is not extensive, I would recommend keeping the doll just as she is. Professional doll repairs are very expensive and DIY methods can be heart breaking.
Thank you! You and the ither posters have been very helpful!
from the pics i would say she doesn't need much done on her she still looks lovely. The hair I suppose could be neater.
