Ok, so I was about 6 or 7 when I watched my first horror movie but for the life of me I can't find it but I only remember 3 main scene and kind of the plot.
1: First off I know the movie is about these monsters that can only come out in the dark.
2: One scene I remember is of a woman who is trying to grave rob this other woman of this fancy necklace but there is some sort of monster there that drags her away through some underground tunnel.
3: another scene is of a man on some freight boat containing tin barrels. He opens them to check the contents and suddenly as he opens one, something flies out and into the ocean.
4: another scene had a woman climbing into bed but there is something underneath her covers unbeknownst to her.
I know this is vague but it's been eating away at me forever. If anyone can solve this, I would be forever grateful. I saw it sometime in the late 90s, early 2000s.

Did you see this on TV, on video, or at the movies? Were there special effects or was the action just implied (for being dragged underground or what flew out of the container)? Was the setting present-day for the time you saw it, or did you have the impression it was a period piece (Victorian/gothic, for example)?
Unfortunately I was like 6 or 7 at the time and the movie haunted me for years. I still sometimes have nightmares from it and I have been trying to hunt it down to get to the bottom of it. I was directed to They by a lot of people and its very similar in theme but not quite there.
To answer your question Im pretty sure my uncle bought it on video from blockbuster at the time. The setting was definitely present day. I remember it a bit more the one scene the lady was grave robbing someone when she got dragged away underground. You never got a good picture of the monsters just flashes of them or insinuations that they were there.
I'm sorry but nothing about this description rings any bells for me.
