I am looking for information about this plant in my house. Is it poisonous to children?

Looks like a yucca family. It is not poisonous.
I think your plant is a dracaena plant. If so, a dracaena is listed as non-toxic to children but toxic to cats. You might want to check out this site for a photo and more information on this type of plant.
I agree that this is in the dracena family
This does look like a Dracaeana and may be the Dracaeana Marginata or it could be the Madagascar Dragon Tree if it ever gets tinges of red on leaves.
Here is a site that has all of the dracaena family photos.

it looks to be some sort of palm, or dracaena, and not poisonous to children
Looks like my dracaena this link has info about keeping them happy. www.gardeningknowhow.com/
They are dangerous to dogs and cats if ingested.
Should be fine around humans, unless the person is overly sensitive to any plants...as it can trigger allergic reactions when the leaves dry, die and drop as it creates a dust. If you pull the leaves when they start to turn you avoid the dust from the fall. Enjoy! They are hearty and prosperous plants!
