This succulent is about 10 years old. I would really love to identify its genus and species so I can propagate and care for it.

I am not 100% but I think this is a crassula arborescens (a succulent) and if I remember correctly, it is part of the jade family.
I hope cybergrannie comments...I know she knows much more about I do than on the succulents...I have raised jades forever, but usually just stick to the basic ones.
If this is in the jade family, they do not like to have wet roots, they like sun (direct or indirect) and the need watered when the soil is dry.

I appreciate the input. I looked at some pictures of the Silver dollar plant. (Crassula arborescens) I am not sure its a match but there is a similarity. I have some better pictures from the donor. Let me know what you think, please.

Some kind of succulent
It is a member of the Hoya family : Hoya carnosa compacta variegata, aka : Wax Flower, Porcelain Flower, Hindu Rope Hoya. It produces when well cared for the most incredibly beautiful and fragrant flowers.
