This metal rack was originally from Southern California and was my aunt's who has since passed away. I am looking to identify what it was used for in the past. Could you please help me out?

My father in law had one what he called a slacks butler.
I just call it a portable metal pants rack.
You can put shoes on the bottom.
I hope yours is worth more than ours. We could not give ours away. No one wanted it. Sad!
Thank you for the response. However, it is only 15" high by 12" wide and 7"wide at the feet (bottom). This doesnt appear to be tall enough for pants.
Wow! It looked much bigger from the photo. Now I am stumped.
For something that small, it may have been used to hold magazines (put the magazine over the rods) or a hung over the wash tub to dry undies?
I will keep thinking.
The pen on the bottom made me think it was a compass or protractor of some type. I have never seen one before
I remember similar items that were called 'pant's rack' but sadly few people have any use for things like this anymore and most people do not have spare 'standing' room for something like this.
I did see a similar one that someone made into a rack to hold tablecloths/linens and maybe a 'throw' and everyone liked it but still - no 'standing' room available for most people.
I think you may just have to put your 'thinking cap' on and see if you can find a use for it - if you have available room.
