I found this stuffed bunny in a thrift store. It's made of leather and is painted. It appears to be very old. There are no tags. Any idea of how to ID or if it might be homemade? Of course I bought it! If nothing else it will make a cool prop for a still life.

It looks like it was manufactured. You could look on ebay. This is the page I looked at. I could not find the exact thing, but found other leather animals. www.ebay.com/
Thanks. This looks like a good place to start. I looked on eBay and didn't find these so my search terms must have been wrong.
I need to do a little more digging and have a few questions:
What is he stuffed with, can you tell? Is he squishy or heavy/solid? How big is he...he looks about 10-11 inches by 5-6 inches.
I am thinking he was a kit from the 1970s where you bought him already made and the artist painted him.
Are you positive it is leather not heavily gessoed or modge podged canvas?
I will keep digging. Thanks for sharing him! Looking forward to learning more about this!
Well he is cute and I would probably have bought him also.
These are the kind of items that are so difficult to identify and Pghgirl may be right about the kits as I remember when you could buy animals made of all types of material (like a kit) and finish them in your own 'style'.
If you want to find out more you can present your question to a doll/toy forum and most likely find out more.
You may need to give the size and also a picture of the underside of your bunny.
Of course it may be leather but other material can look and feel like leather but someone on the forum will know for sure.
