I have checked on several Indian pottery shops around and their marking on the bottom of pots like this one. I am not finding out who has actually made this one. One thing is for sure this was made in a pottery shop and it has an Indian design on it. I am not sure of the exact regions this one was made because each shop has their own unique styles and marking on them.

You might want to check with an Indian pottery specialist to see if they can help out a bit more and tell you if this was actually made in an Indian pottery shop or just a regular pottery shop and the artist designed it to look like Indian pottery.

I'm not familiar with Southwestern pottery and this could be factory made (to look like handmade) or it could be an original and without knowing markings it would be difficult to identify.

Indians used lizards in their pottery a lot and it looks like this artist used a lizard in his signature.
This really looks too 'finished' to be handmade but a good artist could be that good. It would be best to find out for sure as these things can be high value.

I would suggest you post pictures to some of the forums to see what they can tell you. You should have several pictures front, back, bottom, top as well as measurements to put with your question. Is the pot clay?
Your area may also help (although it may have no baring on where this came from).
Please post back if you find out more about this neat pot.

This is a ollin mexica or mexican (I have seen it both ways) brand mark. I believe it is a touristy series of jugs and vases. Not sure of years... fairly new/modern.

They are listed on eBay in the 5-10 dollar range. The mostly sit unsold so current value is not determined since sold prices are the best evidence of value.

Does anybody have an idea about this piece? I have yet to find anything about this. Where it's from, material (I believe it is clay), value, or name of the company.

Any thoughts?

Considering the signature on the bottom and the date on this jug I would say it was made at a craft fair. There are a lot of people who throw these types of pieces on a wheel. They are mostly made with red clay as this one looks like it is made with. I have done a lot of throwing of clay in the past on a pottery wheel and it can be a lot of fun.

This was fired in a high fire kilim because of the type of clay it is made from. I use to work with this type of clay because it is easy to throw on a wheel. Other clays when thrown on a wheel are not as easy to shape like this.
