Identifying a Pimple-like Sore on Finger?

Identifying a Pimple-like Sore on FingerI have a white pimple like stuff on the back side of my finger. Earlier also in the same place it happened, but it was gone on it's own. Now again it appeared, but now it's not going away. It's generally not painful, but when pressed it hurts. Can anyone suggest what should I do?

First thought is spider bite since the wound appears dry and the surrounding area is dark. Not sure why that would seem to go away though. Another concern would be diabetes as a cause for the wound not healing. Can you apply antibacterial and keep it covered? If it doesn't improve a trip to the doc might be in order. I know that's expensive for such a small thing, but they will be able to treat this and put your mind at ease.

You might have some scar tissue from a small cut you got.

This sometimes happens if you get a small splinter under the skin.

  • Sometimes you may not realize that you have a splinter as it may just be kinda "touchy" and will many times appear to have healed but then shows back up again.

  • A good remedy for something like this to soak your hand in hot water that has a heavy amount of Epsom Salt added (think heavy). Water should be as hot as you can stand (but not hot enough to burn so "test" it first).
  • Also, you may be able to check this out by using what is called a "drawing salve" but the original name was Ichthammol Ointment or "black healing salve".
  • Drawing salve is now sold under several names but I think the Ichthammol Ointment (20%) is still the best. It is difficult to find but some pharmacies still carry it.
  • It is safe to use (even if this is not your problem) as it will not do any harm. You can change it everyday or leave it on for a day (unless it gets wet). You just apply a small amount and cover it with a band-aid. The salve may stain (I'm not sure) so try not to get any on your clothes (it comes in a tube).

  • Different stores may have their own "brand" of this healing salve but I have never used another another brand so decide for yourself if you wish to try it.
  • Be careful that it does not get infected so be sure to use an antibiotic cream/salve with or without any other treatment.

If it shows any signs of heavy infection then you should see a doctor so they can get a better look at your problem.

it sounds to me too like you at some poitn got a splinter or even a tiny piece of glass in there and it just never really came out. YOu could try to have it removed though I believe eventually your body will 'process' it.

Do you remember getting a splinter at any point?

No.. It completely went away once and now it has again happened almost after a year..

There is probably an infection and that's why it came back. The problem is that there is a lot of MRSA getting into cuts and sores. I would call the doctor and see if he wants to culture the white stuff. I had a small one of these on my back I would drain it and it would be gone for a while sometimes up to 2 years I finally got sick and tired of it coming back I call my doctor and sure enough it had MRSA in it and he said I have probably have had this infection for the entire time since the very first time it looked like a pimple too.

Just a thought that you may want to think about. Possibly antibiotics and you're good. Good luck hope it works out because a finger is a terrible place for that type of thing.

That is so odd, what I mean is, I have the same thing on my right index finger and almost in the same place (mines just a hair above
where yours is) on my finger.

And it "acts like a pimple, but yet it seems to come back and go away for a time, then come back again".

I've looked at fungus and also warts. I to this day, still don't know what it is. Sometimes I'll "pluck it" with tweezers, and it leaves a tiny hole for a day, then it's back to normal for only a while, as it grows right back again.

Does yours hurt? Mine doesn't, it's just "a very rough spot there on my finger" sort of like a pointed or (pimple callus) is what it's like, and it's been doing this "there then gone thing"
for a couple of years now.
