Identifying a Porcelain Doll?

Identifying a Porcelain Doll - doll wearing a long white dressI bought this doll recently. She came from an old lady's collection. She is about 26" tall. Her clothes are very beautiful and elegant. She has a cloth body, with porcelain head, arms, and legs. She has a few feathers in her hat. She has hoops and pantaloons under her dress, and came with a stand. I can't find any markings anywhere. Any help would be appreciated!

If you cant find markings, the doll is probably not worth much. Enjoy it anyway.

Did you check the back of her head, neck and back for marks, symbols or numbers? Generally if there are no brand/company markings the doll is not very valuable and would be very difficult to identify.

  • There are a lot of doll forums that many times can identify dolls because these are doll collectors and have a lot of "doll" knowledge.

  • It will be time consuming as you should post your questions and pictures on several different sites. You may have to become a member of some of them but that is usually just your name and email address.
  • I have a couple listed below but you can Google doll id forum and more will show up.
  • Here is a site that has a list of companies that do free appraisals but they usually give a lot more information about the items so you might want to check out some of these.

She is gorgeous!

26 inch dolls are not as common - in my research - as other typically smaller sizes. That makes her a tad unique at least to a doll newbie.

Without markings, an idea of when she was purchased, or where, it would be hard to find an exact match and therefore her actual market value.

There are lots of old Sears and other toy ads available thru Google images so if you were so inclined, you could try to match her to an ad to learn more. If you found a match, you could then search sold auctions to get an idea of her specific current market value. Never use asking price, just sold.

If you can't id her, you could always try to sell her on eBay as a best offer, fixed price 30 day auction starting at a wish price and stating that reasonable offers will be considered. This would be selling her by description only. Then the market could dictate her general value.

Please let us know if you find more information! Thanks!
