Does anyone one know who made this doll or where it came from?

Look for markings on the doll. You may have to undress it to find them
i would hazard it was mass produced in China. It looks like the sort of thing you would buy in a gift shop in New Orleans or from some catalogue
These are called Jester dolls and most are mass produced and usually sold in gift shops. Generally priced at $20-$40 but resale value is very low; probably in the $5-$25 bracket.
I have a doll that a friend gave me that looks almost like your doll. Mine has a music box in it. These are dolls that they normally sell around the holidays or in gift stores in some states.
Neat! I haven't seen one in ages. Since I worked in Hallmark stores.
If you have a Hallmark store around and an owner or employee working there for 25+ years, he/she may have a memory of the makers for these. There were so many doll makers back the day. Brinn is the only name I remember that made the jesters, but theirs were scarier, this one is prettier. I know there were others, but their names vanished from my mind.
Let us know what you find!
