Look for markings on the doll. You may have to undress it to find them

i would hazard it was mass produced in China. It looks like the sort of thing you would buy in a gift shop in New Orleans or from some catalogue

These are called Jester dolls and most are mass produced and usually sold in gift shops. Generally priced at $20-$40 but resale value is very low; probably in the $5-$25 bracket.

I have a doll that a friend gave me that looks almost like your doll. Mine has a music box in it. These are dolls that they normally sell around the holidays or in gift stores in some states.

They are basically mass produced and there isn't much information on them at all.

Neat! I haven't seen one in ages. Since I worked in Hallmark stores.

If you have a Hallmark store around and an owner or employee working there for 25+ years, he/she may have a memory of the makers for these. There were so many doll makers back the day. Brinn is the only name I remember that made the jesters, but theirs were scarier, this one is prettier. I know there were others, but their names vanished from my mind.
