I ended up with this doll at a White Elephant gift exchange last year and was thinking about putting it back in rotation again this year. I wanted to learn more about it first. Any ideas? It's about 17" tall with porcelain head, hands, and feet. It has very elaborate detail.

Whatever. That's no help at all.
He may be a kazma brand/series jester. Are there any marks on his back or neck? Even a made in notation? Do the clothing have tags? Are they soft or rough? Many of the kazmas are not marked, so before I go down the wrong path, I just wanted to check, as there was another jester series around the same time as period...late 1980s that were a copy cat.
dollreference.com has a forum. I would upload the picture and someone on the forum may be able to identify it.
this looks like a Kazma jester doll. This link has more info on the sort of doll this could be www.ebth.com/
What an unusual doll.
His feet remind me of the Mime/Pierrot/Harlequin dolls but his face is extraordinary - such detail (looks like soft stuff in the picture) and his hands/fingers are spread apart which is unusual.
Here is a sample of the type of doll I'm wondering about:

I can tell you that someone on this site will be able to help you if you upload these pictures:
Good luck in your search but I would really love to know if you find some information about him as he is very unusual.
