Identifying a Porcelain Doll?

Identifying a Porcelain Doll - bride dollI was given this doll. She only has as identification, the letters LY, on her neck. Does anyone have any info on the maker, how old she is, how much she would be worth, etc.? The veil is slightly torn in one area.

She may be by a brand called UniQue Collection. Ly was one of their marks, but they usually had numbers. Does she have numbers on her back or foot? How tall is she? Is her body hard or soft?

If that is who she is, she is most likely from the late 1990s it early 2000s that brand retails for under 10.00 out of the box. If pristine, in the box, up to 18.00.

Thank you for your reply! I looked at her feet and on the bottom of her stand I found a barcode which identified her as The Heirloom Collection 16" Porcelain Bridal Doll-Blonde, Limited Edition 1-5000. Would you happen to know anything about these dolls? She's not in perfect condition but I'm curious to know any more about her.

Thanks for the additional info. These dolls were primarily made in the 1990s. They were touted at the time as limited edition dolls which is what people assumed the 1-5000 meant. For most, the doll makers were not clear what that meant, meaning were there 5000 of these exact dolls, then break the mold, or 5000 with blue eyes, 5000 with brown eyes, etc.

Now the market is flooded with these dolls and if they sell it is for pennies on the dollar.

The values I quoted for the Unique brand are a little high, as Heirloom dolls are selling at much less, often under $10, if they sell.

They were on the lower end when new and today that translates to lower in the resale world.

If you are able to hold on to her for 10-15 years, the market may correct itself and her value could increase.

If you are trying to sell her, April and May, pre June bride and August and September, pre October bride are best listing times.

I can offer selling tips if you are not an experienced reseller. Let me know!

I have checked on the doll reference site and the mark on the back of your doll is not there. dollreference.com/doll-marks-l.html. This could mean that the doll was made by another company and the person who designed this doll added their initials to the back of the doll.

In cases like this, you may need to seek other help from an antique dealer or even an auction house that can tell you about this doll and the value of the doll.
