Somebody gave me this porcelain doll when I was very young. Unfortunately nobody can remember who gave her to me. After 20 years of her sitting on my shelf I started to wonder where she came from. I've never undressed her, but I saw an internet page telling me to look for markings. She doesn't have any markings on her, but someone (I guess the previous owner) has written "B 8" on the back of her Velcro on her dress. Can anybody tell me anything about her? It's driving me mad. Thank you :)

You will need to undress this doll to find markings. If there arent any, its probably not worth much.
You say you have looked for markings but only found the B 8 so that means it is probably a doll that was made by a company that produced a large number of dolls for distribution to small market stores, drug stores and the like.
Basically the only way to identify a doll is by marking. If there isn't any on her body, feet or back of her head, this will be almost impossible to find out who made this doll, when it was made, or anything else about it.
You can try undressing the doll and looking carefully at the doll to see if you can find any identifying marks on it.
Your other choice is to take the doll to an antique dealer in your area and see what they can tell you about the doll. They have experts in the store to help people with these types of problems.
