This little guy, no taller that 4 inches, has been with me for about 40 years. I have no idea where he came from and wondered if one of your members could assist. He has just come to light during a loft clearance. The body, hands, and feet are made of leather with what I assume is real fur. His jacket used to be red and white stripes, now worn, and appears to be made of a rough cloth. I have looked at the 'Wombles' and searched his image online, but cannot find anything similar. I am in London, but suspect he is from another country and may've been a gift from someone who travelled abroad. All suggestions welcome. Many thanks and kind regards MJ.

He sort of looks like a bird they had on a cartoon so many years ago. I remember the bird flying around and he looked just like this guy. I totally forget the name of the cartoon I saw when I was a child. It was with a bunch of animals and this looks like one of the characters in the cartoon.
Thank you, that's helpful. If you remember the cartoon please let me know.......
looks like you were right poehere.. Its a Fauni Troll from Finland and I believe they did cartoons... great memory!
He is Tivvy Given to junior savers at the TSB that particular one I have from the late 50s
He is Tivvy who used to advertise the TV Times magazine, I have one too
Yes I had one too. I was given one as a child aged 9 in 1965. Tivvy from TV times ad.
He looks like a handmade Womble. I am trying to figure it out but need to be on computer not tablet to find some of my bookmarks. Will post back if I learn more! Cool find!!
Thanks for your suggestion but I have just had the magical moment of identifying him....... the little guy is a Fauni Troll that was most likely made in Finland, and I think now NC. It looks like a very early version of the Sumppi character. These were made from 1952. They are cartoon characters as well replying to the first suggestion... you were right I think.
Very happy. Thanks again.
He is so cute...
Check out this site - this guy has everything!
Sumppi was a well loved character.
You can find all sorts of postings about these characters.

All of the different troll families were popular and these may be the neatest ones but I can't remember them being sold in the US.
Thinking back to 50-60's is not always reliable so...
The family is still in business (temporarily closed) as they moved from Finland to the US - Wilmington, NC - in 2007 so I guess the troll families will go on forever.
Hello Cybergrannie. Found out these are no longer made. This version is a 1967 Boy Sumppi..... ;)
I'm glad they do not continue to make the vintage ones (I'm sure they could still sell them) so that it makes the ones like this very special.
Hi There!
I do recognize this as being an owl. I used to have one, I believe. I have no idea who manufactured this little owl. It was so small and felt so soft!

Hey Robyn, I have managed to identify my new 'old' furry friend as a Atelier Truani Finnish Troll called Sumppi. This version of Sumppi was the first and original from the 1967 catalogue before the company moved to Canada then Wilmington NC. This is a very rare Troll, made more so that they are no longer manufactured. Thanks for your suggestion..... MJ London
To all above and those that recognised Sumppi. This is the cartoon called Tivvy. It was a book and on TV.....
