Identifying a Stuffed Raccoon?

Stuffed Raccoon with Red ScarfHe's clearly seen better days! I have zero clue what brand he is and would like to find an original one, if possible. I got him when I was a baby, in either 1998, 99 or 00.

Unfortunately, it is very difficult to identify a vintage stuffed toy if there is no label. Your raccoon has a little unusual white stripes on the muzzle - long and vertical. I found only two raccoons with similar stripes, one made in Taiwan www.ebay.com/.../324272283300, the other in Korea www.ebay.com/.../274402663013. Maybe this style of stuffed raccoon is typical in these countries.

I would look on eBay until I saw something similar, and then try to contact the company, if they still exist. You are at a dead end without a tag.

He could be a jellycat brand images.app.goo.gl/nLWno8Yn7WY8SWL5A

The scarf may be an add on. Still researching. How tall is he?

Sorry but most likely PGHgirl's help is the closest you will find on this site. I also believe the scarf is probably an add-on.

I can only remember that Dakin made hundreds of different designs/sizes of raccoons and every one was a showstopper - they were so cute but I could not find one like/similar to yours. You do not mention what type of stuffing he has - any ideas?

We do not know the size and you really need a picture of your raccoon without the scarf.

Your raccoon is slightly different than most of the ones found online:
face features are unusual as the stripes are independent of other colors.
Arms are shorter than most.
Feet are different color that legs.
I cannot tell for sure but it looks like ears may be a solid color?
What happened to the tail? It looks like it was used to repair the back? Probably needed major surgery?

Your raccoon is not really that old so hopefully someone will be able to identify the brand.
Your biggest hope is to join some of the forums that help identify toys as these members have a lot of knowledge about vintage toys especially plush animals.
You will have to join the groups before you can post but be sure to provide several good pictures (especially without the scarf) and provide answers to all the questions above or they may not be able to help you.

Hi! Thanks for your response.

I included some pictures with a ruler, he's about a foot tall.

He has no tag - it was on his bottom (where a tail would be) when I was a child, but was torn off and yes, major surgery was involved. A lot of sewing has been done over the years!

The stuffing is a cotton fiber, not polyester or the build-a-bear type stuffing. When I used to put him in the laundry to wash, he would come out very heavy.

I've searched for vintage items without identification and it was indeed difficult but worth the wait for me, so it's no big deal.
