Identifying a Stuffed Toy?

Identifying a Stuffed Toy - stuffed toy Siamese catsI am not so much interested in what they are worth, though that would be interesting. Can anyone give me any information on this cat and kitten I bought at a jumble sale? It is stuffed with what feels like straw. There are no tags or labels, the eyes are on long rather dangerous pins!

This stuffed toy was probably made before safety regulations. You are going to have a hard time identifying it if there are no tags

This is a great article to help date your kitties. They are very interesting! It talks about glass eyes vs. plastic and stuffing materials. Granted it is about bears, but it goes across genre.

This all said, there is still old stock out there of pin eyes and such, so that does not guarantee that it is old...someone could have made them much later using old stock.

I have the feeling they are either Ruston or Dakin. Here is a link to all of the completed auctions on eBay for vintage Siamese plush animals. Scroll through and look for features to help you match them:

www.ebay.com/.../i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313...

Once find a match, you can contact the company to see if they can give you any history.

Unfortunately most vintage plush didn't hold their value. There are a few exceptions like this one:

www.ebay.com/.../223164444407?hash=item33f5a32ef7...

But even still, one can't retire on it :(

Thanks for sharing!! Be sure to keep these up if you have small kids around!! They are VERY dangerous with those pin eyes!!
