Mahogany and the number is either the catalog/stock number or the shade for the paint, if any. In this case, it looks like it is the catalog/stock number.
Thanks. can you give me a rough time period. It appears the dovetails are hand carved but I don't know squat about antiques
can you guesstimate the time period, There is a mirror for it also
I have a piece that is almost identical . Mine has a patent stamp on back that says july 8 1924 .. Ive been researching for a while and think (still researching ) cause Im not finding much And believe its patented for the dove tail joints .but not 100 % yours and mine are very similar .
Can you please show the mirror?
I guesstimate the 50's . My grandmother had this similar piece. You could take your photos and show to a antique/furniture dealer for more info about your pieces.
Thanks for the photo of the mirror. After looking at it, I have a feeling the 38 represents the year of the piece. Furniture had moved out of the big art deco phase and into more utilitarian styles but it had not gotten to the whole Mid Century Modern look. There are legs very similar to these in that era and the castors look like the kind that were becoming popular in this time frame also.
This looks like a mahogany piece from the 40's. It looks like a very nice piece which will soon have antique value.
july 8 1924 . Similar to your
I've got a piece similar to this but where did you see the metal part where is that on the dresser? because I can't identify this one because somebody smudged up the sticker lol
