I can't seem to identify the age or maker of this piece.

If there is no identifying marking, it is going to be hard to assess value or age. You might want to take it to a dealer.
Does it have the mark JAPAN on the bottom?
If it does, it could be an Otagari which were made between 1958 and 1994.
Usually that brand has bows...but it could be an early piece (the bows were big in the 1980s-1990s versions).
The geese statues for that brand sell between 8-20 dollars depending on condition.
There were many knock offs for the brand...which means it was would have been produced in the same time range and would sell for under $5.
Either way, I am guesstimating mid 1960s just based on the coloring and lack of bows, but I am not an expert. I collected geese/ducks for most of the 1980s-1990s and I am more familiar with pieces created during that time frame.
