Can anyone help identify the manufacturer or year this dresser was built? It has been in my family for years and I would just like to know how old it is. The only identifying marks is a No 1551 on the back of it.

There are so many different variables and ways to identify furniture it is very hard with the little amount of information that you have given us here. First off take a look on the inside of the drawers, on the back and bottom of the dresser. Try and find some sort of identification marks on the dresser. Look for numbers, dates, or even a company that has made this. if you can find any of this please post it here. That greatly helps to narrow down the search and find the information for you. If you can't find any of this information the next step will be to visit an antique furniture dealer in your area and show them the photos. Make sure you take a lot of photos and they are very close up and details. Maybe they will be able to help out.
