How and when did you get your pet?
I went on a trip and traveled many miles to find a perfect horse and didn't find one that suited me. A couple of months later, by word of mouth, I ended up finding this big guy (16.3 hands high= aprox. 5 1/2 feet at his shoulder) locally, in 1997. He was fondly named Buster, (his stable name) by the girl who owned him before I bought him.
What does your pet like to do for fun?
Buster's favorite game was to stand with both his front feet in the water trough and splash around. Another activity that amused him for hours was to remove a halter off another horse in the field and he swung the halter around and around in his teeth like a helicopter. He was like a big playful dog with a toy in his mouth.
Do you have anything else to share about your pet?
Before I bought Buster, I went to ride him first to see if he was a good match for me. It was raining lightly, the mosquitoes were biting him and he was not impressed with being ridden that day. I no sooner got up into the saddle and Buster took off bucking. He bucked like a professional bronco horse that day and I was airborne. I realized that he was just having a bad day (me too) and he ended up being a big gentle giant who was my successful show horse until he sadly developed a crippling disease in the bones of his front feet. You'll have to look closely at this photo to see my friend's dog beside Buster, and the hilarious look on his face. He was a fearless little dog until he was put up close to Buster for this photo. He didn't know that Buster was only curious, and would never have hurt him.
Oh, and he never did like being ridden in the rain, but he only bucked me off one other time when another horse and rider came up too quickly behind us and it scared him.

Thank you for sharing your Buster with us. He seemed like a sweet and precious Horse. May he be enjoying the green pastures in Horse Heaven. What a great picture with his doggie friend ! :)
Awww, yes, it sure is obvious what a beautiful and sweet horse he was. I too believe he's in Horse Heaven eating grass to his hearts content, and thinking about his wonderful human friend, you.
And what a funny picture too, "that dog's eyes, or look on his face" is just priceless with the two of them.
Thanks suz! We had no idea her dog was going to roll his eyes like that. He did it just as I snapped the photo.
I've got a few beloved dogs and other horses waiting for me on the other side of rainbow bridge also. There was a most gorgeous rainbow in the sky on the way to the vet's when my husband and I took our last dear pooch to be put down. I just kept watching it, thinking about the rainbow bridge being ready for her to cross over. Very sad for us, but she was suffering.
Hi Gouligann,
That's so precious, the "rainbow" you saw too that day. I deeply understand how that day gave you something special to touch only you, and that it was just for you to know so you'd have the knowing in your heart of comfort forever and ever, it was meant.
Thank you for sharing such a precious moment.
