I am trying to decide whether to sell or keep this Basset furniture chest. It's on the smaller size. Anyone have any idea as to the age, or value or style?

The piece sold in 8/2020 for 89.00. That would be about right for most locations.
I am attaching a photo of it in its original glory from 1969.
The piece is from what they are calling a Safari Oak Spanish style. Not sure how Safari and Spanish go together...but someone in the 1969 Mad Man Marketing world must have thought it so...
Post back how your sale goes!
Sold it this morning for $100. In Mobile Al we dont get top prices generally for our vintage furniture so I guess a bird in the hand..etc...Thanks..how in the word did you locate this ad? I found absolutely zero when i googled..
That is wonderful that you fetched $100 for it! I have a subscription to newspapers.com and I found it there. My search criteria was 1960s Bassett Spanish in the US only. It came up fairly quickly. The subscription is, I think, $80 a year. I use it for my business, and for fun (my research projects like on this site).
Thanks again for sharing the price you got and where you are. I like to trend things like this!
The newspaper site has been great for doing family genealogy also! Back in the 1920s and 30s I found newspapers had a treasure trove of info....down to who went to visit who for tea or lunch and how they were related!!
wow that does sound super useful! Would you mind telling me what style this chest is so I can google it more effectively? it doesnt have any markings on it except for some writing on back in a midde eastern looking language. maybe China or viet Nam..Anyway.solid build though and trying to figure out whether i want to tackle trying to remove the paint someone smeared on it.. or just sell as is..Thanks!
It looks like something from the 1960s. Im not sure of the style. It is good quality, since the drawers are dovetailed and not glued.
It would not have much value where I live because it is brown.
This is a wonderful piece of history, it is late 60's early 70's piece. It is in wonderful shape, and often with these type of details, they are painted to bring out the beautiful lines. This piece can range from $200 to $400 depending on your location you may get more if painted. There is a market for it , and the lines make it unique and decorative. If you are selling sell locally, this will save money if the buyer picks up. Good Luck
I also have a subscription to newspapers.com but it's kinda pricey if you only have a causal use for this kind of information. Sometimes you can locate some of the ads on Google using item name, year, and add ads/newspaper ads.
