Recently came across this. Just wondered If anyone can help me with values/ history of the sword. As far as I know, they have always been together. The ship painting has a British merchant flag and as far as I know the sword is a Dutch Klewang sword.
You have a decorated Sailor's Sea Chest www.adriance.com/
The chest has planked construction, wooden side handles with hook opening www.1stdibs.com/
I found Antique Sailor's Sea Chest with a slightly similar pattern. It was sold for $495. The back of it is with considerable flaking, losses to red paint bands on front and sides. Later paint decorated with large masked ship inside a rope trimmed cameo.
And you have Dutch Klewang.
I found DUTCH M1898 / M1911 COLONIAL KNIL KLEWANG SWORD W / SCABBARD www.worthpoint.com/
Dutch Netherlands M1898 Klewang Cutlass Sword w / Wooden Grip, Stamped HEMBRUG was sold for $ 395 picclick.com/
I found some interesting info regarding the sword here:

You may wish to contact them @ this site for more info on your chest:
I found WWII DUTCH MODEL 1940 KLEWANG SWORD-MILSCO-ORIGINAL-W / SCABBARD which has a wooden handle and has an inscription on the Milsco handle www.worthpoint.com/
I think this is a 19th C. painted seaman's or captain's chest with old but possibly not original decoration. The antique sailor's sea chest was in later nautical paint decoration: www.invaluable.com/
