Recently came across this. Just wondered If anyone can help me with values/ history of the sword. As far as I know, they have always been together. The ship painting has a British merchant flag and as far as I know the sword is a Dutch Klewang sword.

I found WWII DUTCH MODEL 1940 KLEWANG SWORD-MILSCO-ORIGINAL-W / SCABBARD which has a wooden handle and has an inscription on the Milsco handle www.worthpoint.com/
I think this is a 19th C. painted seaman's or captain's chest with old but possibly not original decoration. The antique sailor's sea chest was in later nautical paint decoration: www.invaluable.com/
