Information About this Figurine?

A figurine of a woman in a green dress. My wife and I were recently cleaning out her recently deceased grandmother's home and came across this ceramic figurine. It has a woman in a green dress and cat on top, with a mouse underneath. The piece looks like it would hold small jewelry (earrings, etc...) It is a little risqué (in my opinion), but I guess cute as well.

My wife states it has been on the same shelf since she was a child (at least 35-40 years ago). There is a little mark on the green side that may state "pink". There is no other indication of who the artist is. If anyone has seen one before or has any information, it would be appreciated. Also, we are interested in what the potential value is, if any. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation. Stay safe.

A mouse under the skirt.

She is a little risqué and she is an ashtray (or that was her original purpose). There are a number of these on the web for sale or display. They are made by different companies mostly in the 1940s when pin up gals were the in thing!

I don't see many in the US, mostly in the UK and that area.

They sell all over the place in values from $5-$80 (US dollars). It all depends on condition and color. Yours looks to be in nice shape in that regard, so perhaps you could fetch on the high end.

They are sometimes called double sided (because of the mouse on the underside). You can see the many examples by typing in Google risque lady + mouse + cat + ashtray.

Some had some risque writing on the ash try part, but not all.

Neat item!! Thanks for sharing! Post back how your sale goes if you sell her!

Thank you very much for your insightful information. I will keep you updated as my wife and I decide to sell her or keep her for the unique qualities the piece possesses.

I agree it is an ashtray from the 1950s/1960s when people smoked. They were not expensive than and will not get a lot of money now.

I have found only one similar to your figurine. It's not to hold small jewelry. It's Vintage Rescue Ashtray, made in Japan.

I just found it interesting there is no "Japan" marking anywhere. Just what looks like a name like "dina" or "pink" in the green underside.

I think my screen short was not so great, but it's really made in Japan.

You can check it here: www.ebay.com/.../293993964095?hash=item447367e23f...
The prize is $ 68.5. And on the Internet you can find only this ashtray with an animal hidden behind, in this case a cat, and in your version a mouse.

But the style is very similar.

Yes, your screenshot does have Japan. I am just surprised the marking on mine is so subtle. Just a possible name baked into the glaze.

I remember when these were so popular - every gift shop carried a variety of different 'poses'.
I worked part time in a hospital and these were a best seller.

There seems to be quite a few listed for sale but it seems the styles selling are what they call 'nodders' - usually the girl's legs 'nod slightly' (and some are much more 'risqué' than yours).

Value? Probably $30-$45 but may take a long time to sell.
Perhaps you will keep it just as a conversation piece?
