Trunks can be worth less than $100 or near $1000. With this wide a range, you are better off getting it appraised professionally.
Thankyou for your help I have found one thing out , when it comes to theses old trunks there is a lot of miss information about them. The patent date on the dowel I believe reads ; pat only July 1823 this is the only clue I have lol

I think this trunk is from the early 1900's.
I found Antique Victorian Vintage Unique Humpback Dome Steamer Trunk Chest from the early 1900's at $359.95, but it's in excellent original condition, 25" high x 19" wide x 21" deep
It has similar lock.
Unfortunately, the patent number and date is difficult to see. Add the size of your chest.
Your chest is not in very good condition, so the price cannot be very high.
